I love this author so much and this book did not disappoint me. It was so well written and had so much to offer. At the heart it is about a scandal involving a young woman and a politician but it goes so much deeper. This is a story about what it means to be a feminist, truly and why it is important to keep fighting even when you have been beat down so many times. This book captured my heart and I‘ll remember it for a long time.

I wanted to like this book so much. It is a subject that I usually really like learning about and reading about and normally like books that give more insight into Vietnam. But, this one was very dry for me. It jumped around too fast. The story just felt like it had gaps and I had a hard time really forming a bond where I cared about the characters.

I really liked the alternating timelines in this between the history of the town and the people who lived there. The secrets that were revealed about the last were so creepy and I always enjoy books that bring things together in an unexpected way. The ghost story mixed well with the mystery element and it was definitely a good supernatural book with a chilling story behind it.

This one really got me in the beginning with the twist of what was going on. The author did a good job of not revealing too much until she was ready and I was shocked. I really liked the story and I felt like it was a modern take on Stepford Wives in some way. It wasn‘t fully original in that sense, but I thought it came together and ended perfectly. Definitely a must read, in my opinion.

ClairesReads Just finished this too- didn‘t go where I was expecting either but really compelling anyway! 2w

I really liked this take on the time loop trope. It was super cute for the holidays. It made me smile and was mostly just a feel good book. The relationships were all so sweet and I loved how this one included the whole family. It felt like a fun Christmas movie and I really enjoyed this book a lot. A bit predictable, but still a great book to read for the holidays!

This was definitely different than what I expected. I think the idea was really unique and it hooked me early on when the characters begin to develop. It‘s not quite just a mystery about a missing girl, but the story about the man who finds her and how he does so while also fighting with a disability. I liked how the author really made the characters come to life in this book and the story had me on the edge of my seat and made me think.

This one was cute but a bit too predictable for me. It just didn‘t have anything that really grabbed me when I was reading it. It felt like a typical romance with Christmas thrown into the mix. It had some super sad parts and I just felt like the relationships weren‘t developed enough for me to really get into it the way I wanted to. Cute story. Not my favorite but not bad at all.

This book was a complete roller coaster of a story that I could not put down. From the beginning, I felt uneasy and the feeling still hasn‘t left me even after I finished this book. The story about polygamy at the center was so interesting and it really was such a smart way to make this book come to life. What an ending. Definitely one of my top favorite psychological thrillers to date.

This had a really descriptive story and the setting was such a strong focus point in this book, but it was just so slow for me. The story seemed like it was going to be fast paced and keep me on the edge of my seat, but the mystery didn‘t pick up in the book for me and I had a hard time staying engaged with this one.

This was definitely weird, but I like weird books. This book is about a store that is an IKEA knock off and when they close for the night, creepy things happen. I liked the characters and the fact that this was funny in a lot of parts, but also scary at some points. Definitely made me freaked out to shop in Ikea late at night! I thought it ended well and I really enjoyed the way it all came together in the end.

This is a book about loss and how tragedy changes lives. This is a tough read because it is so emotional, but it is so well written. I felt every bit of this story and I think the author did an amazing job of capturing grief in this book. This broke my heart, but it was worth every minute I put into reading it. Definitely dark, but it comes together well I really liked the ending and felt like it couldn‘t have been done more perfectly.

I liked this a lot when I first started it, but the more I got into it the more I started to lose interest. I thought it was creepy and well thought out. But, there were so many characters to keep track of and the author kept introducing new characters and I started to lose track of who everyone was. I thought it was a great story, but it didn‘t fully keep my interest.

My kitten just got spayed so I spent the day reading with her and my other kitties. This was definitely an interesting read. I liked the variety of the stories and how different they were. This almost reminded me of a modern take on the Canterbury Tales in a really unique way. Definitely a typically dark read by Palahniuk and not for anyone who is squeamish at all.

This was a good addition to the series. I definitely didn‘t love this one as much as I loved the first two, but I think it was because a lot of it was becoming a bit unbelievable for me. Overall, I was on the edge of my seat through most of it and there were definitely some twists that took me by surprise. It was so different than the show which I really liked because I was able to enjoy both for what they were!

I thought this book was so interesting. I loved how it incorporated so many instances of cult mentality from MLMs to exercise regimes to Scientology. I thought the author did a great job of keeping it interesting because she kept it brief enough that you don‘t lose interest but gave enough information that you got a real taste of the different cult type beliefs that are floating around.

This book was not what I was expecting at all, but in a good way. This is a story about a little girl who goes missing and the story behind how where she went effected so many people. This book is just full of twists that I never saw coming. The author must have done a ton of research to write this book and whereas I didn‘t find this one scary in a traditional sense, it was unsettling and will definitely stay with me.

This book was beautifully written. It really brought mythology to life and it was done in such an interesting and entertaining way. I did think it got a bit slow toward the end and it started to get hard to keep up with the characters, but overall, I really liked this. I think this is a book that anyone could love. Well written and a unique take on different myths.

I wanted to like this book, but the style just didn‘t work for me. It reminded me a lot of Daisy Jones and I‘m one of the very few who didn‘t care for that one either. I just found the style to be hard to follow or connect with the characters and I got very confused in parts and bored. I love the idea for this story, but the way it was written just killed it for me.

This is such an important story from history. It was very well researched and genuinely interesting to listen to. I‘m glad I stuck through it and finished it. The writing is good, but sometimes a bit dry. Overall, I thought it was interesting and something we should definitely be aware of and listening to about things that we should be aware of as women to make sure our history doesn‘t repeat itself.

I liked the premise of this book. The mental health aspect was really interesting and it was a pretty quick read. I just felt like it was really scattered and the characters were all so unlikable. It made it hard to stay interested in this one when you really didn‘t want to root for anyone in the book. I liked the twist in it, but I did feel like it took too long to get to that point.

There were parts of this book that were really slow and I struggled in the beginning, but the writing kept me going. This isn‘t a big thriller really in the normal sense. This book‘s ultimate message is about women and supporting each other rather than drag each other down. This is one powerful book and in the end I really liked how it came together. Lots of twists and guessing and I think it‘s a powerful and important message to be heard.

This had the potential to be a really good book with an important message but the writing was a bit rough for me. I thought it was pretty unbelievable and silly in most parts. It‘s a cautionary tale, but definitely could have been done in a more realistic way and less exaggerated. Maybe it would be better for an actual YA audience.

This is a dystopian book that is about a future in which women lose their voices. To be more accurate, their voices are taken away by a government run by misogynistic men who create wrist counters that limit women to 100 words a day. This chilling book shows what the world would be like if women‘s rights are fully taken away and how easy it would be for something like this to happen.
