Only a few chapters in but it certainly doesn't break you gently! Action from the outset

Pickpick

A truly cracking read for my first read in June. On a miserably non-stop rainy day I picked up The Witness by Simon Kernick and didn't look back. Read the book in one sitting, with the only break to eat, make a drink, or have a comfort break! The book moves along at breakneck speed and difficult to put down, plenty of pace and tension built up, along with a few twists and misdirections. Thoroughly recommend. Rare for Simon Kernick to let me down.
