It's taking me an age to read this but I am really enjoying! Original and absorbing

Finally completed a @goodreads #goodreads reading challenge! Failed the last three years 😩😂 #goodreads2019challenge
Enjoying so far. Easy read, quite a quiet thriller but keeps you turning pages nonetheless
Wouldn't have chosen this one, partly because the title doesn't appeal and partly because it's a photo cover - which I hate! But was recommended as first class Scandi horror and as i love all things nordic
thought i would add to my Halloween reads. Glad I did! So far is brilliantly, skin creepingly atmospheric
Really enjoying this atmospheric and absorbing read! Half way through after only two days however that is helped by the fact I have a rubbish cold so have been sitting around when usually I'm on the go alot of the time... probably too much. Think Jerry is enjoying being able to snuggle up too 🥰🐶
I read The Librarian by Salley Vickers last Christmas and it really was the perfect read for that time. I needed cosy but not twee and that's what I got. A work friend has leant me Vickers' first book and I have to say after two chapters, again I am enthralled. She has a lovely slow and enveloping style which I just love
Something about autumn approaching makes me want to get cosy with the classics 📚☕🥰
Three pages in and I was hooked. I believe this is the second in a series! Always good news when a book has brilliantly crafted characters, as this one does. Brought two books with me. The other I will donate to the lending library but this one needs to go home with me!
Thought my fellow bookworms would appreciate this! Spotted it as soon as we arrived for our holiday in Cornwall. Naturally I shall be paying a visit! #library #lendinglibrary
Hybrid of historical fiction, fantasy, dystopia and magical reality. All tied up in a ribbon of romance
Bailed 😟 I REALLY don't like giving up on a book but it just felt horribly self indulgent and somewhat clinical. Just can't force myself to pick it back up
The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one..... 🛸
Jumping into another Peter James thriller. A handsome motivational speaker discovers his identity is being used to scam women who are looking for love online. The first he knew of it was a phone call from one of them, out of the blue, saying "you don't know me, but I thought I knew you".
That woman is now dead.
I'm so envious of Jess Kidd's beautiful poetic soul and writing talent
I didn't feel invested in the characters, not enough background on the main detective to make me warm up him. Ending was trite 😕 Not for me. Even Jerry fell asleep 😉
Despite coming from the wrong side of the pennines 😉 I love Sara Cox, and her radio 2 evening show makes my commute home much more enjoyable. This was a quick and lighthearted read full of her natural humour. Covers her life living on her Dad's farm and above her Mum's pub, her modelling career and sadly; school days blighted by bullying. Not ground breaking but quite enjoyable.
After an afternoon and evening cleaning, scrubbing, polishing, decluttering and generally titifying everything in sight from the house to the car yesterday, today I've a few hours to myself while my Mum takes the kids for lunch so I am relaxing to the max!!!
Took my two youngest to the kids club showing of Mary Poppins Returns yesterday. We LOVED it! Smiled all the way through and found myself tapping along to the songs. Not ground breaking cinema, but lovely magical escapism....and who doesn't need that 😊
Really enjoyed it 😊 quite a quick read and a bit of a palette cleanser between my usual psych thrillers. I love the fashion and the music of the 70s, and adore Fleetwood Mac so this was perfect for me!
Sorry about the language! Ooooh I am really loving this! Thought I might struggle with the interview style of writing but I'm not at all, I actually find it really easy to read 🌼 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
I absolutely L💛VED this book. Meandering, whimsical, poetic, magical and witty. Oh my goodness to have this writing talent! I mean really THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Oh this is GLORIOUS! The prose is just beautiful and meandering. A third of the way through and I feel like applauding the author
Well I said I was waiting for a dud didn't I? Just didn't do it for me this one. Shame because I loved Sleeper's Castle. I wasn't invested and it just didn't hold my attention. Bailed half way through
Unpopular opinion but I'm not taken with the book. Loved the series on Neflix. Although, I really did love the passage where Nellie is driving the house and thinking about the lives she could have.
Honestly not much makes me happier than new pyjamas, clean bedding and a new book!
Thank you @EadieB
1. Plenty of woodland walks with my pooch. Always makes everything seem better
2. I'm told I'm empathetic, which I guess is a positive attribute.
3. I asked my kids what I'm good at and they said roast dinners and cuddles 😊

My tag line 😊 My job is quite stressful and today was an especially stressful day, I've kept myself going with the promise of an hours reading later, or the audio book if I'm flagging!
I tend to have a physical book and an audio book on the go. Audio books usually listened to when I can't sleep. I'm listening a Barbara Erskine....also reading one of hers and finding it quite cosy despite the ghostly happenings. I need cosy at the moment, so another Erskine one it needed to be 😊
I'm waiting for a dud! I've had such a run of fabulous books I'm sure I must be due a fair to middling read. I hope Barbara isn't going to let me down!
Can't tell you how much I want to be curled up at home reading this book! It's really got me gripped! Instead I'm driving eldest daughter to Newcastle (North of England) for a Uni open day. We live in the North but Newcastle is northerer 😉 Going to take the book along in the hope of a 10 min reprieve. This here's The Angel of the North a towering roadside piece by British sculpter Anthony Gormley. Taken by daughter on our initial uni seeking trip
75 pages in and enjoying. Already I suspect the sister, the ex, the bro in law, the neighbour, the publisher and librarian....I'm starting to suspect myself! And my dog is looking a bit shifty 👀
This is SO twisty! Really kept me guessing, made me exclaim out loud on three occasions, made me SOB (I'm a bit emotional at the moment in fairness) so so very good. Been spoilt with my last two reads! If you read it and don't absolutely just fall in love with the adorable Murray then we can't be friends
Awful book hangover from The Truths and Triumphs of Grace Atherton, so going for something completely different
I can't be objective about this book, I just absolutely adored every single word of it. I'm actually tempted to start again! Oooh and also, the author follows me on Instagram 🙊 and is as thoroughly lovely and witty and bohemian as I like wonderful authors to be! (ft new book light, little gift from my mother)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's a beautiful day in Yorkshire! Very warm for the time of year, so only right that I sit out with my new read. Absolutely loving it so far!
I'm a huge fan of the Joona Limma series, I try to leave big gaps between reading as I know I'm almost at the end of the series. I ordered my copy of the previous one - The Fire Girl - from ebay as I wanted a hardback copy, when it arrived it was signed by the authors! Bonus!
Well it's not for the faint of heart!! I read alot of thrillers including scandi noir which can be grim... But... this is quite brutal and parts made me feel physically sick. Having said that, that's not all there is to it, really enjoyed the story and did not see the twist coming at all. I like Helen Grace and bought because I'd read another of the series without realising it was part of a series. Looking forward to the next.
Couldn't resist another pic of this, it's so beautiful! The stacking dolls are relevant. YA fiction but lovely escapism
Three sisters trapped by an ancient curse.
Three magical objects with the power to change their fate.
Just getting started. Such a beautiful cover!
Appear to have accidentally developed a little family book club! Kicking off with this thriller from Lisa Jewell. Looking forward to pretending to discuss it while drinking wine! 🍷 😉
Staying with Peter James for my next read. Was very taken with his interview on radio 2, seems like an interesting charasmatic guy! Really enjoyed Absolute Proof which I finished this morning.
Gone back to this one now after needing an easier lighter read. First Peter James I've read, I'm around a third of the way through and I have to say I'm gripped! Maybe one or two points have been over simplified? But I guess for the story to move forward that's necessary. That's my only slight criticism though so far
1958, Sylvia is the town's new children's librarian and is on a mission to get the town's children excited about books and reading. However, her affair with the married GP and her befriending of his daughter and her landlady's neglected granddaughter ignite the prejudices of the locals, threatening her job and the library itself.
