The story with an interesting structure - we watch a theater performance about a day in the lives of older people, who are placed in a hospital ward, and forgotten by their relatives. The narrative style is almost simple, purified, without excessive pathos, but still, the story hits with power and provokes readers' feelings, thoughts about the transience of life. An interesting idea, solid executed and absolutely worthy of attention.

I actually read The Judgment by the same author but Litsy doesn't have that in their database. I forgot to take a picture of my Thai dinner before it was half devoured but at least you can tell it is Thai by the Singha beer and the bright red pepper 🌶 🌶 🌶. Clearly the world needs to translate more Thai authors and open more Thai restaurants. What an amazing culture. #readaroundtheworld

#readaroundtheworld #thai An educational read, as it is a simply told tale around the conforming pressures in a small Thai village. The book descends page by page into a hopeless place for our not very likable main character. Still, it did manage to confront Thai concepts re: karma. Evidently, they made it into a tv series and gave it a happy ending which makes no sense at all to me. Worth the read but I did not love it.

@Simona Are you enjoying Time? I have started The Judgment by Korbjitti and am finding it rough going. It is either written or translated in a very simple style, almost like a children's morality tale. Except one of the main characters is always exposing herself to others and the main character doesn't understand why no one believes he is not having sexual relations with her. Not what I was expecting. #readaroundtheworld.
