Mehso-so

(1991) A vampire elf confronts another vampire over his lost love. Purpose is really to establish the character of Strahd von Zarovich for the Ravenloft role-playing world. I probably would have enjoyed this a lot more thirty years ago; at this age it just seems by-the-numbers and uninspired. But I'm glad that I finally got around to it cause now I know. This is my #TripleSpin for April, just under the wire.

Mehso-so

This was the author's first book and it was written in the nineties. Having said that....

What I Liked

*Dark atmosphere;
*Strahd's brother Sergey and damsel Tatyana; and
*Ravenloft itself, the best gothic fantasy world out there.

What I Didn't Like

*Inconsequential supporting characters;
*Little to no character development;
*NO TENSION, the greatest sin;
*Jander, a too emo vampire main character 🙄
