Bardur and 'the boy' are friends who work together as fishermen on a simple boat. Fishermen don't know how to swim, they trust in god. Bardur and the boy however, do believe in poetry above all.
The book tells the story of fishing, friendship, grief and poetry, set in the ultimate Icelandic setting. Little is said, but very much is told. Many, many sentences are unbelievably beautiful in its simpleness. Very touching and highly recommended.
