bailed
I've always thought D&D sounds fun, but I'll have to learn about it from another source. Mazzanoble is a proud and acknowledged girly-girl who clearly wants to break down gaming barriers, but in doing so she raises a new set of walls around femininity. She paints her approach as THE way to be feminine, making this an uncomfortable read for anyone whose presentation doesn't match hers. I knew I'd resent it if I continued, so I bailed.
xicanti Hey, here's a question: the part of the book I read (and all the jacket copy) continually refers to it as "the Dungeons & Dragons game" instead of just "D&D," as I thought was standard. Is that some weird branding thing? Like, the book's published by Wizards of the Coast, so she's ALWAYS gotta specify this is about the GAME, not some actual dungeons filled with dragons? 7y
