pickA lovely middle grade novel about a young boy, a Romanian adoptee, whose family is adopting a baby from Kazakhstan. It was interesting seeing the adoption process from the perspective of a 12yo who was adopted at age 8. Jaden is a difficult kid - he‘s full of anger - but he begins to open up as the book progresses. I love that Kadohata writes books about difficult situations like this.
pickBeautiful story, about a boy who was adopted and will realise how many months it takes to adopt a child. As he discovers what is love and how to love his foster parents, he also learns what it takes to take care of not one, but two brothers, one that shows hardly any emotion and another that needs specials needs.
pickAdopted & brought from Romania to America when he was 8, Jaden has never quite adjusted. Sure life is better—he really likes electricity—but it‘s hard to trust, even when his parents tell him they love him & always will. When they decide to adopt another child, this time from Kazakhstan, Jaden doesn‘t know what to think. A solid MG book about adoption, particularly foreign adoption, family, and finding your place in the world.
Just two weeks of school remaining until...SUMMER! More than enough time to preview another book. This one is about an adopted boy trying to find his place in the world.
Wasn't searching for this one--it chose me. Nice surprise. She is also the author of Newberry winner "Kira-Kira"
