Acadie
Acadie | Dave Hutchinson
5 posts | 6 read | 12 to read
The first humans still hunt their children across the stars. Dave Hutchinson brings far future science fiction on a grand scale in Acadie. The Colony left Earth to find their utopia--a home on a new planet where their leader could fully explore the colonists’ genetic potential, unfettered by their homeworld's restrictions. They settled a new paradise, and have been evolving and adapting for centuries. Earth has other plans. The original humans have been tracking their descendants across the stars, bent on their annihilation. They won't stop until the new humans have been destroyed, their experimentation wiped out of the human gene pool. Can't anyone let go of a grudge anymore? At first this novella seems a bit goofy, but by the time you get to the end it changes drastically, to something slightly more horrific.

Totally forgot the book I'm supposed to be reading at home, so I'm dipping into this one instead this afternoon.

Mehso-so

ACADIE by Dave Hutchinson is a sci-fi novella about a colony hiding from the government on Earth. Although it was entertaining and featured some interesting world-building, it ultimately left me disappointed.

If only. 😂

minkyb This is the best! 7y
tournevis Barely hidden copy of the original, pre-Deportation Acadie, like if what happened to my people is a fitting plot for a novel. At least Longfellow wrote well. 7y
Liberty @tournevis Thank you for the information. I am not familiar with this. Reading about it now. 7y
tournevis @Liberty Few are familiar. It's normal not to be. Which is probably why the author felt he could get away with it... 7y
