There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments

MG novel exploring identity, family, disability, and a Mexican radish carving festival. Review at http://www.spiritblog.net/becoming-naomi-leon/
I found this book on my shelf. It is another case of spontaneous generation. This was a very good middle grade book about a girl who lives with her great-grandmother and her younger brother who has a physical disability. When her mother reappears after 7 years and tries to take her away, she needs to fight for the life she wants.
My third grade son recommended this book to me and boy is this a good read. It is sad and makes you want to jump through the pages at times and you want to cheer Gram on. I am a little over half done and already would give it 5âï¸'s.
