I landed myself in the ER today by inciting panic with an innocent question at a doctor's office about an ulcer. This is why I avoid doctor's visits.
Book mail! I've been waiting for this one.
I was listening to this one but I couldn't do it. I just went to the library and got a copy so I could read the end. Too stressful wondering what is going to happen. Now I can go back and read it without a horrible sense of foreboding.
Zina is sex outside of marriage. This is a story about a woman in Afghanistan accused of killing her husband. She is the daughter of the local "witch" and she used her knowledge of spells to help a girl in prison for zina. She's telling her mother how she remembered the spell. I laughed out loud.
I've been working on turning my formerly overgrown backyard into a nice retreat. Planted a lot today and now relaxing on the hammock.

I can't eat food from any Asian country unless I'm alone because of my husband's food allergies. Feasting on Japanese food on my weekend out of town while reading about a Chinese-American Navy cook in WWII.

Book mail from Harper Collins and TLC Book Tours for review. Set in Afghanistan
This is a heavy book for beach reading but I was in the mood for a change.
Today the book went to Alexander Springs but we didn't stay long because it was too cold.
Today's reading location was Sand Key County Park in Clearwater FL. Vacation is fun.

panI wanted to like this book. The premise is amazing and people rave about it but it was a slog to finish. It just fell flat for me. I wasn't invested in any of the characters. The time travel tried to get too complicated and fancy. I think I might have lost the plot but I just didn't care.
Do they have to put library stickers right across the cover?
I'm ready to start reading this song of my people.
