Hiding Edith
Hiding Edith: A True Story | Kathy Kacer
1 post | 3 read
The remarkable true story of a young girl named Edith and the French village of Moissac that helped her and many other children during the Holocaust. The town's mayor and citizens concealed the presence of hundreds of Jewish children who lived in a safe house, risking their own safety by hiding the children from the Nazis in plain site, saving them from being captured and detained and most certainly saving their lives.

Hiding Edith is a biography novel that won the Yad Vashem Award for Children‘s Holocaust Liturature. It‘s about a little girl and her family during the Holocaust. Edith, her mom, sister, and brother are sent to France where they are separated because Edith and her brother go to the children‘s home. This book would be great for shared reading. The UDL I would use is 3.1 Active or supply background knowledge.

Samantha.K The ESOL strategy I would use is 29 offer a variety of reference materials at the students instructional level for independent use. https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?a=1&tid=26450 this website takes you to teaching books and it gives you a lesson plan and book resources. #ucflae3414f17 7y
DrSpalding I made text to text connections with the diary of Anne Frank. The resource including so many reference materials could assist students who were learning about the holocaust in a social studies unit. 7y
