Meet Me in Paris
Meet Me in Paris: A Memoir | Juliette Sobanet
2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
What does a romance novelist do when she loses her own happily ever after? Take a lover and travel to Paris, obviously. Or at least this is what Juliette Sobanet did upon making the bold, heart-wrenching decision to divorce the man she had loved since she was a teenager. This is the story of the passionate love affair that ensued during the most devastating year of Sobanet's life and how her star-crossed romance in the City of Light led to her undoing. Meet Me in Paris is a raw, powerful take on divorce and the daring choices that followed such a monumental loss from the pen of a writer who'd always believed in happy endings...and who ultimately found the courage to write her own.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa The Stone Sky, Sabriel, and GoT! You are in a serious fantasy world binge! I love it! (I've been doing the same lately myself) And I've read part of all those series too, just have to finish up the first two and keep my fingers crossed George RR Martin finishes another one soon! 💙 7y
Yeah_I_Read @Riveted_Reader_Melissa lol I'm really trying to forget about reality rn. I'm listening to Sabriel on audio and its narrated by Tim Curry! It's so awesome, I love his voice 7y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Yeah_I_Read Same here.... real life and real news are just so depressing/emotionally sapping at the moment I dived into more fantasy. I re-read the Harry Potter books this summer, and I'm working my way through Lord of the Rings at the moment. I listened to Sabriel from the library too, I loved Tim Curry especially during Mogget's parts. I still have the last two of that series to read. Odd isn't it, that even when the fantasy deals with the.. 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ..same tough subjects somehow it's easier to take because it's not real life. Somehow it still works as a great escape for me. 7y
Yeah_I_Read @Riveted_Reader_Melissa yes! I haven't been able to turn on the tv for a while now. I feel like with fantasy you can hope for a happy or at least decent ending or that the little guy will win but in real life it is so hard to imagine that the next few years won't get worse before they get better, if they get better at all 😔 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Yeah_I_Read Exactly! You have the hope of a happy ending, or at least an ending period. It will be over at some point & finished in an at least satisfactory way. I think I'll be reading a lot more fantasy & fiction the next 4 years (god forbid 8, I honestly don't think I could handle it, it feels like it's been eons already). I remember looking forward to Election Day, just so I wouldn't have to hear his voice any more, boy was I wrong. And I.. 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ...am afraid you're right, we haven't seen the darkest part before the light yet. Which is scary as hell. 7y
