April book finished for #poetrychallenge2018 ☺
A good chunk of the poems are actually Latin translations (Ovid mostly, and Lucan). Read Marlowe's translation of Lucan today--fun because I translated some of that in school. Still remembered parts!
Finished The Massacre at Paris. Not-a-spoiler-alert: almost everyone dies. Heavy, historical play. I'm amazed at what recent history this was, only a few years past when Marlowe was writing. How impactful must this play have been for its contemporary audience? It'd be similar to seeing a play today about Syrian refugee crisis, or the 2016 US election.
My Marlowe read continues. Up next, Doctor Faustus! The only one that is a reread for me.
#bookandbreakfast for a quiet start to a busy day. Quiet in one sense at least, since a play about a massacre is not so peaceful... I've been reading A Massacre at Paris for a while and only have 4 scenes left. Hoping to finish it this weekend.
