Making Room
Making Room: Recovering Hospitality as a Christian Tradition | Chistine D. Pohl
3 posts | 1 read | 1 reading | 3 to read
For most of church history, hospitality was central to Christian identity. Yet our generation knows little about this rich, life-giving practice. In Making Room, Christine Pohl revisits the discipline of welcoming strangers and provides the foundation for renewed commitment to recovering hospitality as a Christian tradition. Combining biblical and historical research with extensive interviewing of people in contemporary communities of hospitality--the Catholic Worker, L'Abri, L'Arche, Good Works, Jubilee Partners, St. John's Abbey, and others--Pohl explores the necessity, difficulty, and blessing of practicing hospitality today.

Jasper kitty is glad I‘m done with this in time for some evening snuggles 😻
And I‘m glad I‘m done with it because it was unfulfilling 😕 It read like a doctoral dissertation, and didn‘t challenge the reader to do more. I learned a few thing, & it‘s short, so no harm done. But it was hard to get through because it was dry & repetitive.

Sweettartlaura @Suelizbeth He‘s one of many Christian leaders quoted - it‘s a good read so far. I encourage any person of faith trying to learn to embrace The Stranger in our midst to read it 🙂📚 7y
