My 12-year-old niece picked this audiobook for our trip together, and it is beautifully narrated, funny and entertaining, with a complex and ambitious heroine. So why the so-so? I was uncomfortable with the pure adulation given to the Presidents and capitalism throughout. I know this is for a young audience, but I think that makes this a problematic read I wouldn‘t want to recommend to another kid without preparation for a lot of conversations.

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s well written and can be enjoyed by kids and adults. Now if only I can convince my niece to read it as I “read”it with her in mind. I will order the hard copy. The audio voice was not one of my favorites. The book is inspiring and the cupcake recipes sound yummy.

This is a great MG story that endorses friendship, sincerity, authenticity, dedication, hard work, and following your dreams. The audio voices were superb!
