What Waits in the Water | Kieran Scott
3 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Hannah is excited to spend some time at her best friend Jacob's lake house this summer. The catch? Hannah's annoying new stepsister, Katie, is tagging along. Katie is wild and pretty and seems to have a THING for Jacob. Hannah's not jealous...or is she? To make matters worse, the town they're staying in is sort of...creepy. And as Hannah gets to know some kids in the town, she learns there are all kinds of rumors swirling about the lake. Rumors about mysterious deaths and drownings. And monsters that may lurk below the deep. Hannah doesn't believe any of it...until she sees something horrific happen to a new friend. Did Hannah just witness a murder? Or was this a prank gone awry? And who can Hannah trust now? Master of suspense Kieran Scott spins a story full of twists and turns that will leave readers gasping and guessing until the very end.

Pickpick

I‘ve read a book by this author before, so I started this one expecting some campy fun and eerie horror – which is exactly what I got! It‘s hard to go wrong with a quick, easy read that holds your attention without requiring too much concentration. I‘d suggest this for fans of #YA creeps and chills. Not recommended if you‘re looking for literature.

What a terrible book. As a middle school teacher, I get really angry when books geared toward middle school kids are so shallow and trite. Actual kids would not behave like the kids in this book. The story was ridiculous and not well-developed. There were too many grammatical errors. Readers need to see proper grammar in context for it to be meaningfully absorbed. Come on, Scholastic...you can and should do better for young readers.

LiteraryinPA Ugh, how annoying! As a former middle grade English teacher, I share your frustration. 5y

Why I chose this book: I chose this book because it made me curious about the title. I wanted to find out the answer to it, so I decided to read it!
Summary: Please check the comments section.

SSsean This book is mainly about two step sisters who went on a four day vacation at their friend's lake house. Their names are Hannah and Katie. They don't usually get along that well. Jacob (Hannah's best friend) invited Hannah to his parent's lake house in Michigan, Dreardon Lake. In the beginning, Hannah was getting jealous of the fact that Jacob and Katie seemed to like each other. Hannah had a teeny tiny crush on Jacob so she had the right to envy (edited) 5y
SSsean her step sister. When they got to the actual lake, they slowly find out that the lake itself is haunted. They were unsupervised, it was just them and Jacob's other friends. Their names were Alessandra, Colin, Raj, Prandya, and Nick. Is the lake actually haunted or is there someone behind all these shenanigans?
