Pickpick

This was my book about a subject new to me for #booked2020, the partition of India . I was inspired to pick this up by a Doctor Who episode called Demons of the Punjab. I knew the partition happened, and I knew it was brutal and had lasting impacts on the region, but that was it. It was far worse than I imagined, and I think it contains some valuable lessons some countries could learn for today!

I‘ve been reading this slowly, because it‘s so intense that I need to take it a chapter at a time. I continue to be astonished that I knew nothing of Partition before I encountered a pop culture reference to it. Not a spoiler - this is history, after all - but Litsy doesn‘t really have another way to provide content warnings.

Between library holds coming in and reading for school, this keeps falling to the bottom of the pile, but I‘m working my way through, it slowly. I‘m shocked and disappointed that I knew nothing of Partition before an episode of Doctor Who sparked me to learn more.
