'Elegantly crafted, humane and thought-provoking. She's top drawer' Ian Rankin This is how it begins. With a near-empty building, the inhabitants forced out of their homes by property developers. With two women: idealistic, impassioned blogger Ella and seasoned campaigner, Molly. With a body hidden in a lift shaft. But how will it end?

I really like eva dolan and her police procedural novels repeatedly touch on current issues such as migrant workers + far right politics so a stand alone was intriguing and didn't disappoint. Here 2 v different women at the heart of a protest against gentrification of a high rise London block of flats confront a dead body. The book then seperates with their tales taking different time lines to a satisfying end. Role on her next book.

Very, very hard to get through and not very interesting.

Ended up loving this one! Two women conspire to cover up a murder but clearly not everything is as it appears. Lots of social commentary as well: protests, gentrification, police brutality, and the fine line between right and wrong. I‘ll be reading her other novels as well!😍 Thanks to NetGalley!

Loved this book! Eva Dolan does it again with a brilliant twisty turny crime novel, confirming that she is still one of my favourite crime writers. Highly recommended if you enjoy a why done it rather than a who done it.

The last 1/3 improved my overall impression of this one.

Finally sitting down! But it‘s already late so I don‘t know how much reading I‘m going to be doing.
