Nightwalker | 
so-soIf I'd read this when I was 10, I would've become OBSESSED with it. As it stands, I liked it a fair bit in the beginning but felt my interest wane a little less than halfway through. That was partly because I lost momentum during a day with little reading time and partly because there's an almost (but not quite) throwaway bit where the protagonist adopts brownface. It put me off and I never recovered.
I finally made it to Murchie's! I always go because my beloved dog was called Murchie, but it can get BUSY there. My last attempt was on Saturday, right after a tourist ship from Seattle docked. The line was out the door. Today there were only four people in front of me, and I snagged a gingerbread tea latte to drink while I read a bit more of NIGHTWALKER.
Supper involved Cajun snapper, kale, and a children's fantasy I took from a Little Free Library the last time I was in Victoria. I should've read it months ago, but at least I can now reinsert it into the same LFL system it came from.
I found another well-stocked not-a-Little Free Library! Lots of stuff from Orca Books in this one.
