Dorsai! | Gordon R. Dickson

Written in 1959, it is of course outdated in quite a bit of its thinking. I was particularly unhappy with the focus on genetics and some comments toward the end.

It also read oddly, more like a series of vignettes rather than a novel.

Given the ending, not going to continue this series.

Mehso-so

Mixed feelings on this one. I read and liked it a lot when I was much younger. It features a clever young hero who finds unexpected solutions to problems his elders can't solve. This time it felt too tidy, the hero too perfect, the elders too stuffy. And its takes on gender roles and genetics haven't aged well. Still, the adventure is fun for what it is so I'll give it a "So-so" that once was a "Pick", then follow my buddy to sleep.
