Congratulations on your Litsyversary and 6 digit milestone! 🎉And thank you for your #Thankyou-giveaway. I read lots of great books this year but the tagged book was one that has stuck with me. I am looking forward to Sharon Kay Penman‘s newest The Land Beyond the Sea due out in March.
Willy Vlautin you ripped my heart out and this time you didn‘t put it back. I wasn‘t even sure I was going to read it. It‘s about a young man who wants to be a boxing champion. (I hate boxing!) I won‘t forget this one for a long time.
May was a good reading month for me. 9 books lots of variety and other than The Essex Serpent they were all good.
“ ‘I‘d be tired, too, if I were you,‘ the old man said. ‘It‘s hard to hate yourself every single day, and it‘s hard to try and be something you‘re not.‘ “. (p. 264)
It isn‘t often that a book makes me cry these days, but this beautiful one did. Horace Hopper and Mr $ Mrs Reese will be a part of my life for a long time. A novel about having a dream. A story about unrecognized talents. A tale about how love makes a family, even without blood ties.
Author talk and book signing was a great night out. He played songs on his guitar inspired by the book. Line was too long both to buy the book and to get it signed - I'm not a patient person and the bookstore was super crowded. Almost claustrophobic! Fun fact: I live on the same street as the bookstore which is in a gorgeous old house. Too far to walk but a 5 minute drive:)
