Pride, Prejudice and Popcorn
Pride, Prejudice and Popcorn: TV and Film Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre | Carrie Sessarego
3 posts | 2 read | 9 to read
Three great love stories that started it all Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights are three of the greatest novels in English literature. Now joining them is Pride, Prejudice and Popcorn, a decidedly different take on these classics. You will laugh with delight as you learn: The importance of thoroughly investigating your employers before accepting a job at their isolated, creepy house (Jane Eyre) The sad fact that not every bad boy has a heart of gold (Wuthering Heights) How to make a proper proposaland how not to. Hint: don't insult your beloved while attempting to talk her into marriage! (Pride and Prejudice) Join blogger and romance aficionado Carrie Sessarego (smartbitchestrashybooks.com) as she takes us to the movies with Jane and Liz and Cathy. In her own unique, hilarious style she discusses the books and the various movie and TV adaptations. Your living room will be graced by heartthrobs like Timothy Dalton (twice!), Colin Firth (he shows up twice, too!), Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy. Whether you are in the mood for serious academic discussion or lighthearted snark, whether you prefer Regency romance or Gothic passion, and whether you prefer your love stories on the screen or on the page, this book has something for you.

I would never have heard of this book if it weren‘t for Litsy. It was a completely fun book, and the author agrees with me that Wuthering Heights is a horror novel, not a romance. 😊 Fun descriptions & rankings for the movies of P & P, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights. My only problem is that there are quite a few editing, spelling, and grammar errors that should have been caught and fixed.

I enjoyed the heck out of this book! Made me laugh out loud several times. This is about P&P, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre. The author (whom I want to befriend) gives a shorter recap of the books, reviews each movie/tv adaptation with honesty and snark, does biographies and fake awards. Sounds odd, maybe, but I loved this! I only wish it wasn‘t only an ebook bc I‘d love to gift copies to friends. If you love these classics you‘ll like this 📖!

readordierachel Sounds great! 6y

batsy This sounds good! I enjoy the reviews on Smart Bitches Trashy Books even if I don't necessarily read the books they review 😆 6y

LauraBrook @ReadOrDieRachel @Rcoco It‘s only 99 cents, so it‘s worth giving a try! 6y
LauraBrook @batsy Same here! And it‘s cheap. And shortish (130 pages). It made me want to reread Jane Eyre, and reminded me of why even though I think I like WH, it‘s really full of awful and depressing things and people. Also, it made me want to watch all of the adaptations I haven‘t seen yet. 📺 6y
batsy You've convinced me! I just got it... That it's 99 cents definitely doesn't hurt ❤️ 6y
