I would use this book with my students to expose them to one of the most popular animals in the world among young children. This book is great for older elementary students who are interested to learn more about science, the safari environment, and elephants. I would also use this book to show students how scientific images can be used to help support content within text.

This book discusses everything there is to know about elephants including secrets, common misconceptions, their extensive history, species facts, their sensitive souls, herd interactions, and their amazing features and abilities (footwork, ears, vocalizations, trunk movement, etc). This book contains a ton of scientific detail regarding elephants that are supported by real pictures, scientific images and graphs, and diagrams.

The thing I really like about this book is that it would enhance the learning experience of students learning about elephants. It gives a real-life glimpse into that particular field of science. It is written in such a way that the book would compliment other facts and figures style reading

This book would be too difficult to put into an elementary classroom. The pictures are neat to look through though. This is good in a middle school classroom and above.

This book was set up like a scrapbook! It tells the story of Caitlin O'Connell journey in Africa, where she made many ground breaking discoveries about elephants. This book is purely non fiction as she's telling her story of her journey from youth to making her discoveries. Very interesting book with a very interesting lay out.

The Elephant Scientist was written by Caitlin O‘Connell in 2011. It is an amazing nonfiction story that discusses facts about elephants. I really enjoyed learning the new information and believe my students will as well!
