A lovely evening of music at the Amber Fort!!!
The Hawa Mahal. There‘s a dance performance here tonight as part of the Jaipur Literary Festival but personally I‘m just thrilled to be allowed inside. The palace was constructed (note the really fine lattice work in the uppermost dark orange section), so that the women of the court, who were strictly secluded, could watch festivals and so on without actually being seen themselves. A tad prison like for my taste but stunning craftsmanship.
Razor focus here... Day Two, Jaipur LitFest! Chaos growing today but it‘s the Republic Day public holiday so somewhat expected. Bit of a fail, have stumbled into two majority non-English sessions but cross everything I manage to actually understand the next few. (Suggestions for next year - perhaps an asterix next to the Hindi or dialect sessions?). 😊😊😊😊
Wow...(my brain hurts!). What a day! Chaos of noise and sound and people. Tally! Pico Iyer, William Dalrymple, Lisa Randall, Kathy Reichs, Patrick French, Helena Kennedy & Rupi Kaur. Only one minor screw up in so far as one talk was all in Hindi (in which I am NOT fluent) but otherwise all fantastic - dark matter through stillness through women and the law to poetry. 😊😊😊😊 Day 1 #zeeJLF Done!! 😊😊😊
SUCESS!!! (This is the book I wanted yesterday at its actual RRP). 😊😊😊 For the slightly clueless traveler who likes the feel of cloth bound books 😊😊❤️❤️😊😊
