Soft pick, since I think I'm way too much into feminist thinking to really enjoy this story from... 1998? But it had some good moments and some really strong King vibes. Especially how he works with sound through text. That was very well made. I also liked the dog and think that King enjoys writing about dogs 😁 🐶

On to my next. #BookishMonopoly roll (almost went to book jail ?). My task is "continue a series" and I want to continue the Dark Tower series. Since it's such a short book, I also chose to read Bear Head by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

This is book 0.5 of the Dark Tower series novella tracks the years before Roland catches up with the man in black and how he almost loses his life when straying down the wrong back alley.

Was ok.

I read this short story as part of a collection of short stories called Legends. This story is a brief snippet of Roland's life before most of the events of the Dark Tower series, but after much of what happens in Wizard and Glass. While vaguely interesting, it didn't exactly offer new insights into Roland's character or the series in general. Roland is hard and soft, thoughtful and selfish, yearning for connection but driven to survive.
