
Shared this quote with my youngest who, like his siblings, is a reluctant speaker of our native language, Tamil. They find it a chore to learn it in school and English is their lingua franca.
My son's response -
They live in their own countries, so they speak own languages.
He thinks speaking in Tamil is not a necessity in Singapore, our homeland.
My take - While we are not part of India, the language is part of our ancestry, our identity.
