Story
Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting | Robert McKee
Robert McKee's screenwriting workshops have earned him an international reputation for inspiring novices, refining works in progress and putting major screenwriting careers back on track. Quincy Jones, Diane Keaton, Gloria Steinem, Julia Roberts, John Cleese and David Bowie are just a few of his celebrity alumni. Writers, producers, development executives and agents all flock to his lecture series, praising it as a mesmerizing and intense learning experience. In Story, McKee expands on the concepts he teaches in his $450 seminars (considered a must by industry insiders), providing readers with the most comprehensive, integrated explanation of the craft of writing for the screen. No one better understands how all the elements of a screenplay fit together, and no one is better qualified to explain the "magic" of story construction and the relationship between structure and character than Robert McKee.

#BookCoverChallenge
Day 273.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.

Sitting in writing group and they are trying to get me to read this book. It‘s huge! I don‘t have time for that. Then I remembered asking about writing books on Litsy and everyone said to just jump in, don‘t read how-to books, and readers make the best writers.

I think I‘ll stick with my Litsy family on this one. 💖

#maybookflowers day 24 - #readthisnotthat

I've gotten good info from McKees book (dust jacket long gone), and I've heard some sound critiques of Hulks own screenwriting tome (specifically regarding the chapter on 3-act structure). Still, I've always been a fan of Hulks writing and the way it builds off and away from conventional screenwriting teaching is really interesting and engaging.

In a world of lies and liars, an honest work of art is always an act of social responsibility.

Finished this book today after reading it slowly and lovingly for months. I can't imagine a better book on storytelling.

Here's the stack I'm using these days to elevate my laptop (okay, technically one of these isn't a book). #augustphotochallenge #bookstacks
