Cloak And Dagger
Cloak And Dagger: Child Of Darkness, Child Of Light | Bill Mantlo
3 posts
Collects Cloak and Dagger (1983) #1-4. "The darkness hideth not from thee...the night shineth as the day..." Detective Brigid O'Reilly wants to arrest them, Father Francis Delgado wants to reform them - but does anyone really understand them? A year after they debuted as anti-drug vigilantes in Spectacular Spider-Man, Cloak and Dagger's secrets were revealed in their own mini-series, collected here for the first time! See the duo's first meeting and transformation, their battles against criminals, and their struggles with themselves - as only two of the eighties' authorial and artistic experts could present them!

@Ruthiella

Ruthiella Excellent list and no pressure to read all of them! I know I won‘t manage it myself. Which one are you most excited to read? 5mo
Traci1 @Ruthiella definitely Running Grave if my hold comes through in time. 5mo
jlhammar I‘m also going for a Flavia - looking forward to it! I really enjoyed the first couple in the series years ago and just never got back to it. 5mo
Traci1 @jlhammar I read the first one ages ago and don't remember much beyond that i enjoyed it, so I'm reading it again now. Not sure how far I'll get into the series (borrowed the first 3 on libby) before December. 5mo
bthegood I also picked 7 - Mrs. Mohr Goes Missing - it looks good - 🙂 5mo

The #cloakanddaggerchristmas2022 was shared on IG today, for anyone who is interested. I did it last year and had fun. The prompts this year are pretty loose, and many do not require reading at all. More info at link below.

quietjenn I'm for sure in again. I really enjoyed it last year. 1y
batsy I'd love to do it again, too! @quietjenn @merelybookish do tag me if there's anything you'd like to read for the buddy read prompt 🙂 1y
merelybookish @quietjennn @batsy Oh yes, I'd be into a buddy read! And I'm very open, especially to classic age stuff. Also, any ideas on foil cover are welcome. 😄 1y

quietjenn @merelybookish @batsy would love to jump in on a buddy read! And I think that foil prompt will be the trickiest. Looking forward to their recs, but may just have to go browse the mystery section at the library. 1y
batsy @quietjenn @merelybookish I'm stumped re: foil covers, too. I'm guessing some of those pretty Agatha Christie hardbacks have foil lettering 🤔 Just an idea for a buddy read, only because I've seen people talking about it recently :) 1y
merelybookish @batsy @quietjenn That looks fun. And festive. 🎄 1y
quietjenn @merelybookish @batsy I am game for that one, I've enjoyed most of the British Crime Classics books that I've read and it's nice that it's seasonal. 1y
quietjenn @batsy @merelybookish good call on the Christies! I think even some of the less-pretty ones sometimes use foil for her name. I associate foil covers with either big budget books ore paperbacks from the 80s and realized that many of the books by one of my favorite authors from then - Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels would qualify, so I think I may use one of the Amelia Peabody books that I haven't read for this prompt. 1y

Not really book related, but it is Marvel comic related. So on that note, are any of you watching “Cloak and Dagger?” I am really loving it so far. I never heard of the characters and I love me some Marvel! Anyway, good show if you dig flawed and somewhat broken “superheroes.”

Bookwomble I can't get that show, but have read the characters in the comics and always liked them. 6y
CBee @Bookwomble if you have Hulu, it‘s streaming there. The network it‘s on is Freeform though. It‘s so good. 6y
Bookwomble I don't have those 😊 I'll wait to see if it comes to the UK on terrestrial tv or Netflix. It sounds like they've done a good job on the adaptation. 6y

CBee @Bookwomble ah ha! Here‘s hoping 😁 6y
Henrik_Madsen I enjoyed those characters in the old Spiderman comics. The white girl / black boy pairing was probably quite daring when they were created. 6y
CBee @Henrik_Madsen hi! I thought the same. I do really love the characters. 6y
