Experience the incredible pop culture art of Mondo, beloved by fans and iconic filmmakers alike. Based in Austin, Texas, Mondo is an art gallery and online store devoted to the love of film, art, music, and collectibles. Over the years, the company has received global recognition for its incredible art posters that bring to life classic films, TV shows, and comics in a refreshing and utterly striking new way, offering a unique perspective on everything from Star Wars to Robocop, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones, Godzilla, Kill Bill, and many, many more. For the first time, The Art of Mondo will bring together this much sought-after art in one deluxe volume that showcases the incredible ingenuity of the studio’s diverse stable of artists whose vastly different styles are united by one guiding principle: limitless passion for their subject matter. Adored by the creative talents to whom Mondo’s art pays tribute—including Paul Thomas Anderson, Guillermo del Toro, Zack Snyder, Quentin Tarantino, and Edgar Wright, to name but a few—this richly imaginative work is fueled by a love of pop culture that fans recognize and identify with, giving Mondo’s output a rare and valuable synergy with its audience. While these posters are normally produced in a limited quantity and sell out in minutes, The Art of Mondo will allow fans to explore the studio’s remarkable back catalog, including Olly Moss’s iconic Star Wars trilogy work, Laurent Durieux’s brilliantly subtle Jaws poster, and Tyler Stout’s evocative Guardians of the Galaxy art. Other key Mondo artists such as Jock, Martin Ansin, and Aaron Horkey will also feature. Definitive, visually stunning, and filled with art that celebrates some of the biggest and best-loved properties in pop culture, The Art of Mondo will be the ultimate book for cult art fans everywhere.

I was just looking online & noticed someone say that their Alamo Drafthouse location had permanently closed. So, I decided to look up my local Drafthouse. They announced two days ago that they were closing permanently. The Rise of Skywalker was the last movie I watched there. It was the second from last movie I saw in theaters before the pandemic. Movie watching, like so much else, will be forever different. I'm sure we will find a way to 👇

vivastory create new traditions, but my moviegoing experiences at The Alamo will remain among my most cherished cinematic memories. 3y
merelybookish Sad news...movie viewing does feel like it will never be the same again. 3y
AkashaVampie I was just saying to my Husband.... that our little one will probably never go to the movie theater. He is almost 4. That makes me so sad. I loved going to see movies when i was little. 3y

nelehelen Oh no! It permanently closed? 😭😭😭 3y
Bookwormjillk Oh no! Alamo Drafthouse was so much fun 😢 3y
wordslinger42 If I'm remembering correctly, they're doing a Lord of the Rings cast reunion this spring that is only in theaters, and I believe it's to help raise money for Alamo Drafthouse or other theaters to help them stay open! So maybe it's not the end for your theater 💜 3y
Scochrane26 I loved Alamo when I visited Austin. Here in my area, our theater that is a cultural landmark has closed after many years of business. I‘m hoping it will be able to open back up one day. 3y
Amandajoy That stinks! Ours is still temporarily closed. My husband and I have been eagerly awaiting it to reopen. I‘m hoping it will be around & open when James Bond is finally released. 3y
readordierachel What a bummer :( 3y
marleed The downtown building hosting the Alamo Drafthouse in Kansas City is so iconic on its corner across from the Power&Light district. I hope it can be retained as a theater for that area. However, I did read a lengthy article in the online Pitch that described perhaps management at that location was as much the issue as the pandemic itself. I hope that means other ADH locations survive the pandemic. 3y
Kimberlone I really miss going to the movies. It‘s my favorite activity outside of reading. I only live a couple blocks from our local theaterpub, which hasn‘t played a film since last March :( 3y
ScientistSam That's so sad. The Alamo chain filed bankruptcy this week but it sounded like it will be bought and hopefully continue on at least in most locations. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I read that they're closing the underperforming locations but the sale includes some of the same backers /current CEO plus new investors. If you're in Austin, I saw that they indicating moving the signature events that were normally held at The Ritz to new Austin locations. If you aren't lucky enough to live near multiple, I hope in a couple years they rebound and find a new home near you. 3y

Pickpick

I picked this one up at the library, but will definitely be buying a copy for my personal library. Although I don't watch movies as often as I once did it was great seeing full page movie posters that really live up to the potential of the medium as an art form & not simply a marketing tool. Should especially appeal to those interested in cult cinema & graphic design.

This coffee table book of movie posters is amazing. Many of them were displayed at Fantastic Fest & Alamo.
