I finished this audiobook on my way to Rome and I‘d better review it before I forget! A man—with unusual cat-like eyes—awakes in a strange place, not knowing who he is, where he‘s from, or where he‘s at. A kind family “adopts” him and teaches him the ways of their unusual world. It turns out to be a dystopian USA, with tribes, many violent, & one feared by all others. He goes on a journey to try to learn who he is & ends up in the city ruled by 😋

I‘ve decided to make this one my next audiobook once I finish The New History of Venice. If I time it right it will work for June‘s #authoramonth. Since I‘ll be traveling most of June, I‘m trying to get a head start on my June book challenges. @Soubhiville

This was a very compelling and though provoking part of the Hainish series. There are also “Easter Eggs”, so be on the lookout for them.

In this entry of the Hainish novels, an amnesiac must seek out the"enemy" to discover himself. The main character is apparently a descendant from the Planet of Exile, and must find out about his home and his mission, without revealing any of it to the "enemy". This is the first time I have binge read the Hainish novels, and I am enjoying them immensely.

Finished this on the morning walk with the puppy today. One of my favorite authors, read by a great narrator. Certainly not the most compelling or interesting of LeGuin‘s work, but it is always enjoyable to spend some time in one of her worlds.

I think I might enjoy this more if I read the whole series.

Falk, assumed to be an alien because of his yellow eyes, is suffering from complete amnesia. He‘s taken in by a small community of forest-dwelling humans and taught along with the children.

He eventually sets off on a cross-country journey to seek out Earth‘s conquerors, the Shing, to find the truth about who he is.

I...don't know what to say.

This was a nice way to spend the last 8ish hours of my long drive from Chicago to Houston. Le Guin is so good!
