From the bestselling author of The One Who Got Away comes a gripping new psychological thriller that will have you thinking twice about who in your life you can really trust ... 'Absolutely loved The Ones You Trust! #winner' Rachael Johns Emma Cardwell, celebrity mum and host of top-rating morning TV show Cuppa, seems to have it all: fame, money and a gorgeous family. But when her little girl disappears from day-care - captured on CCTV footage at a nearby shopping centre leaving with someone Emma has never seen before - her world is turned upside down. As the minutes tick by, and pressure mounts, every part of Emma's life comes under examination. Is this a kidnapping, the work of a crazed stalker, or an obsessed fan? Is somebody out for revenge or is this something closer to home? And there is the aching question: how much do we really know about those who care for our children . . . and about the people we love? 'WARNING: Do not buy if you work in morning TV. Everyone else will love it ... Great read on a rainy weekend.' Edwina Bartholomew, Sunrise presenter Praise for Caroline Overington: 'Overington keeps you guessing until the last' Daily Telegraph 'Caroline Overington has an ability to home in on the darker, unsettling sides of life, seizing upon topics you might see headlining the news and spinning them into gripping page-turners' Australian Women's Weekly

Great airplane read. Got me in, very 'twisty'.

For most of this book I was totally riveted, captivated by the horrifying thought of a child disappearing from day care. The ending had a slightly icky feel for me but for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story follows the hazards of fame, when celebrity puts your family at risk. The anguish of a mother who has no idea where her baby daughter has gone was beautifully portrayed and, as I said, I was riveted.

The story is set in Bondi Australia during the Covid 19 lockdown (surely the first of many!) & it was really interesting to hear about people adapting to the early stages of the pandemic. It's billed as a thriller but I'd call it Family Drama instead. The thriller part of it only has a little bit of menace but the various family members dealing with the fallout of the virus, as well as the family drama, were the high points.
The narrator is A+++!

bookandbedandtea This is only on audiobook and it isn't in the litsy database so I tagged another book by the same author. 4y

Excellent book, kept me hooked until the end. I have loved all of Overington‘s books, except The Lucky One - it was just too weird.
The Ones You Trust is set in Sydney. The story of a little girl, daughter of a morning TV show star who is kidnapped from daycare. The question is who did it and why?
