The Hungarian Revolution broke out on October 23, 1956, after the State Protection Authority (or ÁVH) fired at a protesting crowd of students, killing one of them. The uprising was crushed in November, of course, we suck at uprisings. Our red-white-green flag, with a hole cut in its middle to remove the communist coat of arms, became the symbol of the revolution.
