'There's no way to soften this, so I'll say it outright. I already have a wife.' In a single sentence Walter Radcliffe destroyed everything Kate Sullivan had lived for up to their wedding day. Coventional family life in 1920s rural Somerset left her totally unprepared for the shame and disgrace of being jilted. Desperate to escape, she accepts the insulting gifts of Walter's money and his sham wedding ring and flees to the honeymoon hotel in Bournemouth to try and forget. Then handsome Luke Halliday introduces himself, drawn to the beautiful woman who always dines alone. A talented photographer, Luke recognises Kate's potential as a model, and persuades her to come back with him to London. The promise of a new life, and Luke's sympathetic generosity seem the answer to all Kate's troubles. But Luke doesn't know the terrible secret of her past, and when Walter suddenly reappears, angry and violent, dare she risk their fragile trust by telling him the truth?
A Simple Romantic Story set in the 1920's in Britain. Loved it, though it did take awhile for me to read bc I had other stuff to do. It's timeless and very releastic. Great character development.
