Not Fade Away
Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found | Rebecca Alexander, Sascha Alper
3 posts | 1 read
Born with a rare genetic mutation called Usher Syndrome Type III, Rebecca Alexander has been losing her sight and hearing since she was a child and was told that she would likely be completely blind and deaf by thirty. Now, at thirty-five, with only a sliver of sight and significantly deteriorated hearing, she is a psychotherapist with two masters' degrees. Not Fade Away shares Rebecca's extraordinary story; it is by turns harrowing, funny and inspiring.

Pickpick

As someone with a cochlear implant, I always like to learn about someone else‘s perspective on their CI, and living life as a deaf person. The book was not the most well-written book I‘ve ever read but it‘s a worthy read for some solid insight into what it means to be both deaf and blind.

I heard the author speak at my temple this week, and knew I wanted to read her book. #memoir #deaf #blind #inspo
