Bluecrowne: A Greenglass House Story | Kate Milford
7 posts | 8 read | 8 to read
Return to the world of the bestselling Greenglass House, where smugglers, magic, and pyrotechnics mix, in a new adventure from a New York Times best-selling, National Book Awardnominated, and Edgar Awardwinning author. Lucy Bluecrowne is beginning a new life ashore with her stepmother and half brother, though shes certain the only place shell ever belong is with her father on a ship of war as part of the crew. She doesnt care that living in a house is safer and the proper place for a twelve-year-old girl; its boring. But then two nefarious strangers identify her little brother as the pyrotechnical prodigy they need to enact an evil plan, and it will take all Lucys fighting instincts to keep her family together. Set in the magical Greenglass House world, this action-packed tale of the house's first inhabitants reveals the origins of some of its many secrets.

Pickpick

This is a pick- for me. Not as strong as the Greenglass House books that preceded it, but I‘m very curious about where we‘ll go from here.

This is a prequel telling the story (part of the story, which the blurb neglects to mention) of the family that built Greenglass House, but never really lived there. Interesting but needs more (which will, hopefully, be in the other books).

“But if we get hung up on time paradoxes, we‘ll never get to the point”

I‘m not sure whether this is a cop-out, in a book that hinges on the possibility of time travel; or if I appreciate getting to the point.

Done for the night, and met my goal! Anything I get to tomorrow is bonus. Second book down, too!

I think “nackle-arsed sonofabitch” might be my new curse.
