In Grandpa's House | 
Revisiting this really short book today- only 40 pages, but I remember really liking it the first time I read it. Maurice Sendak illustrates his father‘s story about growing up in a Polish-Jewish shtetl and how he eventually made his way to America. The story is wonderful and the illustrations add a nice touch.
