Reading the 2018 Short Story Advent Calendar (#SSAC2018), one story per day from December 1-25, is partly what inspired my next reading project: one chapter per day of The Tale of Genji (starting January 1). The stories in the calendar average 14 pages in length, while the chapters in #Genji average about 21 pages, but that‘s still manageable. Plus, I will have company: @Cindymylifeislit @Daisey @llwheeler @bianca @saresmoore @bookandcat

jmofo I‘m inspired to read this but I think I won‘t keep up! But I‘ll love seeing what you think! 6y
Lindy There are still copies available in the 2018 print run of the SSAC. It‘s a beautifully designed collection, with each story in a separate booklet. More here: https://www.hingstonandolsen.com/store/the-2018-short-story-advent-calendar 6y
Lindy @jmofo Vicarious members are welcome. I will add each chapter number to the Genji hashtag to make it easier to find relevant posts for people who are reading at a different pace. 😊 6y

mhillis Great idea! I‘d like to try to read with you too!! 6y
Lindy @mhillis Wonderful! Would you like me to tag you (along with the rest of our group) when I post about Genji? 6y
mhillis @Lindy Yes, that would be great! Now I just need to get a copy of the book! Are you reading a certain edition? (edited) 6y
Lindy @mhillis I saw it free online in Project Gutenberg. It‘s also in Hoopla, if your public library has a subscription. I‘m doing a combination of print (when I‘m at home) and ebook (when I‘m travelling). 6y
mhillis @Lindy OK, sounds good. Thanks! 6y
SoniaC I plan to give this a try. Hoping I can keep up! 6y
