This is such a delightful, funny, and heartfelt manga about Satoko, a Japanese woman studying abroad in the United States, and her roommate Nada who is Muslim and from Saudi Arabia. The manga is lighthearted with a slice of life narrative. It's clearly from the Japanese POV since a lot of the comics are dedicated to educating the audience on Nada's culture. All in all though it's sweet and fun to read!

Two college students, one from Saudi Arabia and one from Japan, become roommates in America. They are charming and inclusive and kind. But it felt like there were things that were gently hinted at, that would have been better spoken aloud; like the fact that kids pulled their eyelids back to shout “China Lady” at Satoko or the fact women weren‘t ALLOWED to drive in Saudi Arabia when this was written, or have gym class.

Excellent representation of multicultural female friendships that is positive & empowering! The 4-panel manga is cute, informative, & very kind with anecdotal moments & interactions. There is no Islamophobia or disrespect of other cultures/identities. It's the slice-of-life #manga I've been waiting my whole life for! Highly recommended for readers looking for a short, feel-good treat that is very inspiring.
