Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. A totally unexpected gem about a gay, black teen who gets caught up with his aid worker parents and his bf in the Kosovo War. A dark and stressful read, but I could barely put it down. Explores the duality in all people (and of all conflicts). A great debut. Excited to see what Kosoko Jackson writes next.

I'm not not enjoying this book but I'm not really enjoying it either. The setting feels very opaque to me at 50 pages in, and that's after doing a bunch of googling about the Kosovo war (when and where the book is set). And I don't feel especially interested in the main character. I think other people will probably love this book, but I'm trying to get better at not forcing myself through books I'm not enjoying. So bail! #QueerBooks
One of my reading resolutions for 2019 is to really tackle the books I already own! I started the year at 84 books I own but haven't read yet. Both the books I've finished this year were from that pile so I've already brought it down to 82! Above are three more books from that stack, albeit some of the most exciting ones since they're recent review copies that have been sent to me! #ReadingResolutions
