Pickpick

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. A totally unexpected gem about a gay, black teen who gets caught up with his aid worker parents and his bf in the Kosovo War. A dark and stressful read, but I could barely put it down. Explores the duality in all people (and of all conflicts). A great debut. Excited to see what Kosoko Jackson writes next.

Bailedbailed

I'm not not enjoying this book but I'm not really enjoying it either. The setting feels very opaque to me at 50 pages in, and that's after doing a bunch of googling about the Kosovo war (when and where the book is set). And I don't feel especially interested in the main character. I think other people will probably love this book, but I'm trying to get better at not forcing myself through books I'm not enjoying. So bail! #QueerBooks

A.R.Rao what genre?? 6y
whatsthEStorey Too bad. I really like the title! 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @A.R.Rao Historical (if the 1990s counts as historical!) kind of thriller. 6y

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @whatsthEStorey Don't let my bail stop you from trying it! It may be a case of 'it's not you, it's me.' 6y
BookishTrish @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Can I borrow this one? 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @BookishTrish Yeah sure! I assume you know it's been pulled from publication though? 6y
BookishTrish I do! I‘m really curious to read it and had preordered it before it got pulled. 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @BookishTrish Okay let me know when and where I can get it to you! 6y
BookishTrish @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Would you be able to put it in an outgoing bin to WVML for me please? 6y
BookishTrish Or I can get off my butt and organize a North Shore Social 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @BookishTrish Oh good idea! Yeah, I can do that next week! It would be fun to do another North Shore Social soon though! 6y

One of my reading resolutions for 2019 is to really tackle the books I already own! I started the year at 84 books I own but haven't read yet. Both the books I've finished this year were from that pile so I've already brought it down to 82! Above are three more books from that stack, albeit some of the most exciting ones since they're recent review copies that have been sent to me! #ReadingResolutions

SW-T Good job! I‘m trying to do more of that also 🙄📚 6y
js0315 I've tried reading some of the ones I have, but I can't get into the ones I've tried. 6y

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @js0315 I say at that point, get rid of them! Then they're no longer books you own that you feel like you have to read! 6y
