“As she lifted her head in hopes of the smallest of breezes to cool her blistering forehead, she hears a sound of wonderful, magical sound. Music.”

This is based on a German folktale and I like how the author retold the story but used insects to make it different and unique.

This book is really fun and silly for kids. It tells the story of an ant and a grasshopper exploring the sounds and music they are hearing. Very vibrant illustrations that are colorful and bright.

The grasshopper plays his fiddle while the ants gather food. With his song he‘s able to convince one ant until the queen arrives and scares him back to work

Wonderful illustrations. May be fun as an art activity to make art similar to that in the book- typical storyline

The pictures are a bit distracting for me and made it hard for me to read. With this being said, I still think kids would find it interesting.

I really enjoyed reading this book and the theme that comes along with it: friends make everything easier. I loved looking at the abstract illustrations; they were a lot different compared to other typical books and were very interesting.

This would be a great book to read to a class because it shows diversity as well as helping other people. The band was grasshoppers and even though they weren‘t ants, the ant became friends with them and helped them out just like they did for him.

This book is a tale about an ant working on a chore for her colony but runs into a grasshopper playing magical music. The setting was displaying being out in the tall grass and the adventures you can find in it. This cute tale sends a message that even with a task on your hand, you can still explore! Traditional literature, 2012. Ant is working hard and getting worn out until she hears music. The grasshopper and his friends play music for the ant so she can keep going with her work to bring back to her family. Pictures are bright and well contested and fill the pages.
