Good Enough to Eat
Good Enough to Eat | Stacey Ballis
6 posts | 10 read | 14 to read
The last thing Melanie expected to lose when she went on a diet was her husband. Former lawyer Melanie Hoffman lost half her body weight and opened a gourmet take-out caf specializing in healthy and delicious food. Then her husband left her-for a woman twice her size. Immediately afterwards, she's blindsided by a financial crisis. Melanie reaches out to a quirky roommate with a ton of baggage and becomes involved in a budding romance with a local documentary filmmaker. In this warm and often laugh-out-loud novel, Melanie discovers that she still has a lot to learn about her friends, her relationships with men, and herself-and that her weight loss was just the beginning of an amazing journey that will transform her life from the inside out..

#GratefulHarvest

Today‘s #sweater prompt immediately made me think of this foodie novel. The cover screams “Fall” to me! 🍁🍎🍂

Day 14 #AprilBookShowers #titlewithgood Looking at my Goodreads *read* stacks, it seems that most of my books with 'good' in the title are thrillers, dramas, foodie books & cookbooks. Here's a selection of my good books. 😀👍

Cinfhen That's a lot of goodness 😜😜😜 8y

Day29 #readjanuary #FoodieFiction🍴📚Foodie books & foodie fiction are genres that I love & I could post a bunch, but I'll restrain myself & not blow up the Litsy feed. Stacy Ballis writes some light, fun foodie fiction that's a pleasure to read. Room for Improvement is my favorite of her food-based novels. Wedding Girl came out last year & is in my TBR stack. (One of these days!) I get hungry reading her books & I've made some of the recipes.😋

RealLifeReading Restrain yourself? Please don't! By all means blow it up! (edited) 8y
CherylDeFranceschi You should post away- this is what you do to perfection! 8y
SaraFair Yes please post the foodie novels. One of my favorite genres, and would love to know more of them. Stacking the ones you already mentioned! 8y
DebinHawaii @SaraFair @RealLifeReading @CherylDeFranceschi I did end up posting one more with a stack of favorites. And I am sure I will post more even without the prompts. I read a lot of them! 📚🍴❤️ 8y

OK Tyler Florence...you win! These just may be (at least among) "the best mashed potato you'll ever taste in your entire life." Cooked in cream, butter, olive oil, garlic & herbs which are folded back in, they're not the healthiest (which makes pairing them w/a book about a woman who lost weight & opens a take-out cafe w/healthy & delicious food a bit ironic) but I'm matching the title & these are so good, you almost don't need gravy! #Litsycooks

LeahBergen If you're going to do really good mashed potatoes, you might as well do them RIGHT. 😉 8y

Pickpick

I don't often find myself gravitating toward #foodiefiction, but I ❤️ Ballis' writing. This book completely hit the spot this weekend (pun intended). I loved following Mel and Nadia on their paths to self discovery and empowerment. If you're in the mood for a solid female lead, enriching relationships, and lots of food, this is a book for you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
