Here in Chicago, the Bloomsday In Chicago group do live readings to celebrate Joyce. In its' 13th year, it is a fun and joyous event to attend. For Chicago Littens, it's at The Galway Arms at 7pm. Sadly I cannot attend this year- we continue to be on Operation Babywatch and my poor daughter is miserable and needs me to kvetch to. This is my calling.

This is a story of love, of madness and obsession. The ending is forever etched into my brain. This book is haunting. And I think it's a very good example of #taintedlove #junetunz

I loved this memoir so much- such a lovely, plaintive telling of an incredible story. And though it's not fiction, I think it has my #favoritetwist of an ending. Holy cats! How do you sally forward without bitterness at that point? But Jeanette does an amazing job, never sinking into pity or recrimination. #riotgrams

I've been making my way through this slowly, savoring the language. So good! In this retelling of The Tempest, Felix loses his daughter to illness when she is 3. However, he imagines her back into his life as a ghostly daughter, his constant companion. He has given her a complete #afterlife. #junetunz

This super luxurious book tells the story of Chateau Vaux Le Vicomte. The palace caught the imagination of King Louis XIV, who had all the tapestries, statuary, paintings and furnishings confiscated to be used in the palace he was having built for himself- Versailles. And although this beautiful building still stands, the enormous cost of upkeep has given it times of being a beautiful glorious #brokedownpalace #junetunz
