“A few years back, I had a difficult winter. “ great first line of a book. So apropo as I arrive in Hawaii. Two years ago, upon return from our big island trip, I also had a hard winter that ended with unplanned surgery. I have higher hopes for this trip. No matter, good health or poor, it‘s still more bearable in the islands.
Imagining the future at that moment seemed as unlikely as setting out on a voyage when you‘re sick and it‘s raining outside.
