#TLT #ThreeListThursday @dabbe

I was a late bloomer for horror. I didn't watch much until college.

Saw was the movie that got me into the genre. It's not as graphic as people remember/assume, and the mystery is well done.

John Carpenter's The Thing is peak, edge-of-your-seat, sci-fi chills (and a legendary Drew Struzan poster)

The Descent is creepy and claustrophobic, with a strong female cast that smashes the Bechdel test.

JenniferEgnor The Descent is one of my favorites! 3d
Prairiegirl_reading I‘m so claustrophobic The Descent scared me so much I had to leave the room before it even gets to the scary stuff! I‘m such a chicken! 3d
TieDyeDude @jenniferEgnor @prairiegirl_reading I am not claustrophobic, but The Descent makes a strong case for being so! 3d
dabbe You're a late bloomer? I'm still blooming! I have never seen SAW, but based on what you wrote, perhaps I could handle it! Fab choices. Thanks for sharing. 📽️🖤🍿 2d

I challenged myself to pick the first 3 that came to mind, because I tend to really overthink these simple things.
While making this post I noticed that Thir13en Ghosts rates at only 19% on Rotten Tomatoes?!
That‘s just crazy to me 😵

I‘m going to say any/all of the Scream movies…Ghostface creeps me the hell out! 👻
My 16 yo loves all the movies, and I‘ve watched the newer ones with her. For a con last summer, she dressed as Ghostface, and she met Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard! But I had to ask her a few times to take off the mask 🤣

These 3 movies deeply unsettled me when I first saw them as a kid:
🎥 The Birds
🎬 The Witches of Eastwick
🎞 Misery
😱😱😱

dabbe OMG to all of these! I was going to choose WITCHES OF EASTWICK, too. That cherry-eating scene ... 🍒 Thanks for sharing. 🍿🖤📽️ 3d

Scary movies!
1. Jurassic Park - the dinosaurs in the kitchen 😳
2. Pan‘s Labyrinth - the best movie I‘ll never watch again 😱
3. Vertigo - classic suspense with great scenery 🌉

Thanks @dabbe for another great poll!

@TEArificbooks Want to play?

#ThreeListThursday #TLT @dabbe

To continue with all things spooky this month, how about sharing your three favorite scary movies? You can comment below or create your own post. I'll share our results next week. If you want to give some sort of scare-o-meter, go for it! All are welcome to play. Let's have some much-needed fun! Tagging a few to get this party going! 🧡💜🧡

Tamra I will mention one that gave me nightmares throughout my childhood, that is Wizard of Oz. Not the flying monkeys, no, it was the witch‘s legs with those striped socks sticking out from under the house! 😵 4d
Karisa 🦋 Silence of the Lambs, 🦈 Jaws, ♥️ Handmaid‘s Tale (streaming) 4d
ImperfectCJ Current faves are Rosemary's Baby, Nope, and Sinners. As a teen/young adult, it was probably Poltergeist, the 1992 Candyman, and still Rosemary's Baby. My parents were big horror movie appreciators with no limits on what us kids could watch, so I've been watching horror movies for as long as I can remember (the first movie I remember seeing is The Amityville Horror). 4d
See All 42 Comments
Billypar I'm a huge horror fan, and my three favorites could be different on any given day. But today, I'll say The Thing, Poltergeist, and Ouija: Origin of Evil. 4d
KT1432 Joshua (creepy kids/bad seed movies are my jam), The Purge, Sleepy Hollow, honorable mention to Gremlins for the comedy 😆 4d
LeahBergen The Woman in Black, A Stir of Echoes and The Others. Creepy! 😬 4d
willaful I don't watch many, but my favorites are “Get Out,“ “Phantom of the Paradise“ and “Carrie.“ 4d
Dilara I am a sensitive soul who doesn't do horror movies. I had to watch Tesis by Alejandro Amenábar in Spanish class. Walking in the university's deserted corridors afterwards was a bit of an ordeal... It definitely doesn't count as a favourite movie!
Looking at other people's answers reminded me that I did watch Get Out out of my own free will and like it. So, that's one 😊
(edited) 4d
Dilara On the spooky side, my daughter went through a Casper the Friendly Ghost phase: we had the VHS of the 1995 film and we watched it together countless times. I don't know whether it stands the test of time though!
4d
AnnCrystal 👏🏼🤩 So many grand movies mentioned here! 🤔 I'm going to create a post for this one! Thank You for the Tag 👏🏼🥳👌🏼👻🎬💝. 4d
Bookwormjillk Let‘s see. The Shining, Jaws, and What Lies Beneath are the three that come to mind. I remember seeing What Lies Beneath at the movie theater and people were pacing up and down the aisle we were all so tense. 4d
LiseWorks The scream movies 4d
kspenmoll I am tooo scared to watch horror movies-the visuals haunt me forever! I will say Wizard of Oz when I was young- that wicked witch etc! 4d
Suet624 No scary ones for me. The Exorcist was the last scary movie and that was in a movie theatre in full gory detail. 3d
Cuilin Oh gosh I don‘t do scary. The Blair Witch frightened the beejus out of me. I probably should not have watched it postpartum. I guess that‘s on me. 😆 3d
dabbe @Tamra That was so traumatizing as a kid! Have you seen the bookmark for it? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1862041291/wicked-witch-legs-bookmark-wizard-of-oz?...

dabbe @Cuilin OMG, that movie! I got physically ill when I got home after seeing that one. All the jagged camera movements gave me a severe case of vertigo. 😱 Thanks for sharing. 🍿🖤📽️ 3d
Tamra @dabbe omg, no! That is hilarious. I think I might need to get it. 😂 3d
LiseWorks @Suet624 I was 14 when I read the book, couldn't sleep for weeks 3d
dabbe @Tamra 😂😍😂 3d
ImperfectCJ @LeahBergen The Others is awesome, and I'd forgotten about Stir of Echoes! 3d
LeahBergen @ImperfectCJ I might need to watch them again 😆 3d
CindyMyLifeIsLit The Grudge REALLY scared me! I couldn‘t sleep without a night light for two weeks! 😂Another really scary one is Hell House LLC. If IT didn‘t ruin clowns for you, this one will! The Haunting of Hill House (series) is also scary, I thought. (Midnight Mass is great, too—both created by the inimitable Mike Flanagan)! 3d
dabbe @CindyMyLifeIsLit Never saw these. One the TBW list! Thanks for sharing. 📽️🖤🍿 2d

Okay, horror is my favorite so I couldn‘t pick just three! 😫 The tagged book is my favorite out of all of them, though. Being a devout Stephen King fan, I think It and The Shining would be the next two. Hooray for Halloween prompts!! 🎃👻🧟‍♀️💀🧛🏻‍♀️🕷️🖤
#TLT #ThreeListThursday

Reggie Hex, the Shuddering, , Those Across the River, Salem‘s Lot, The Library at Mt.Char! 🖤🖤🖤 1w
dabbe On a 1-5 scare-ometer (😱 to 😱😱😱😱😱), how would each one of these rank? Thanks for sharing. 🧡💜💛 1w
CindyMyLifeIsLit @dabbe Hmmm, that‘s a hard one. I‘m not really scared by books—I don‘t put the book down and start imagining the book monster coming out of the closet! (I do that with movies 😱)! I would say, out of these, The Shuddering is a 5, Frankenstein is a 2 (but beautifully written), Dracula and The September House (which also has dark humor) is a 3, and the rest are a 4. Library at Mount Char is more of a WTF read—it is WEIRD (but wonderful—and my fav)!! 1w
