pickA good book, but probably not the best for me since I‘ve had a fear of fire since watching Frankenwienie in kindergarten. I didn‘t really fall in love with any of the characters. I mean I kind of cared about them, but not that much. But all in all, a pretty good book. 4⭐️

Ava, who lost lost her parents in a house fire, struggles to recover what she‘s lost, while Piper, involved in a car accident, slowly loses control while trying to hide her battles. Can the two disfigured girls be the strength the other needs? Blunt honesty, subtle humor , tough topics.
pickThis is a YA contemporary about a young woman's “reintegration“ into high school after a house fire that left her heavily scarred, including her face. It is incredibly well-written, with a voice true to a teenager. Ava is present in many different emotional states with a sense fantastic accuracy, sometimes reading as a biography. In places, the story feels like a more mature version of Wonder. I inhaled this book. I didn't want to put it down.
pickThis book was a total gut punch. Ava‘s story is one of determination, heartbreak, and making it through to see another day. Life after the fire that burned the majority of Ava‘s body has not been easy. It only gets worse when her aunt pushes her to go back to high school. Enter Piper, another burn survivor. The two conquer their fears and issues together. This book was amazing. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you NetGalley for the early review copy.
