Been madly getting through more #mayrso2023 two contemporary romances for older teens, and two historical adventures for middle readers. Moving onto June now soon, I reckon.
Been madly getting through more #mayrso2023 two contemporary romances for older teens, and two historical adventures for middle readers. Moving onto June now soon, I reckon.
#mayrso2023 #digitalarc #graphic #memoir A story about kids with cancer at camp? Of course I cried. #middlefiction #griefandloss #bravery #family
My other #currentread is now not arriving until June so it‘s on hold while other #mayrso2023 take priority. I didn‘t know this one was coming, so am v excited about it. Already 2/3 through (#cantputitdown) and am a little fearful about what MC Perry is about to do. Aargh don‘t you hate it when your fictional heroes make bad decisions? Hoping for a happy ending, just know I will have to get through some suspenseful and scary parts first.
#currentlyreading #preview #printarc #mayrso2023 #ukya #griefandloss #mentalhealth #suicide #family #sisters #trauma #celebrities Argh this is going to be a thought read
#currentlyreading Moving on to #mayrso2023 #preview #digitalarc #lgbtqia+ I read this author‘s first novel and enjoyed his queer take on the post apocalyptic landscape. And his new sweet contemporary love story looks good too. Diving in!
Ooh exciting. #currentlyreading #preview #printarc #aprilrso2023 so far it‘s a strong sibling story, a magical story, a desperate race to break a curse, and enemies needing to work together. Let‘s see how it progresses. Plus a #bromeliad that has taken years to grow that flower 🌸
#netgalley approved me the digital copy and my reading partner supplied a print copy, so clearly I am meant to read it. #marchrso2023 #preview #lgbtqia+ #twins #romance #humour Plus a #bromeliad
Last few days before school starts. Trying to get through as many as I can. #aprilrso2023 #digitalarc #preview #lgbtqia+ #nonbinary #friemdship #protesting #activism #inspiring Loved this story about Jamie standing up for their own rights when realising no one else will.
#aprilrso2023 #nzya #digitalarc #preview This has an interesting concept. It‘s tells the angry-young-girl story in a different way. Lots of@literary references and diverse characters.
Can‘t find this book so tagged another by the same author. Coming to 🇦🇺 in April. #currentlyreading for #middlegradereaders It‘s actually a bit dark. Great voice. It‘s hooked me in. #aprilrso2023 #digitalarc #magic #dystopia
There‘s a good chance I will get through this series (again) this week. I just finished the third one. Love me some Eugenides. #currentlyrereading #series #thethief
#currentlyreading Another one I bought two years ago and am only just getting to. Also the third book, Graywarren is already out, so I won‘t have to wait for it. #winwin The plant is Ficus Elastica Burgundy commonly called a Rubber Tree (here in 🇦🇺 anyway). #dreamertrilogy #ronanlynch
Back to #preview #digitalarcs Another one for #marchrso2023. Sounds intriguing. Japanese setting which is a little fresh. Grief, time slip, and earthquakes feature. Plus love that cover.
#currentlyreading Taken me two years to get to this and I am not sure why. Love this author to bits. #prettyflowers
#currentlyreading #marchrso2023 #historical #coldwar #survival all these March books are about war and survival. Not bad, just sad.
#marchrso2023 #preview #loveozmg #sustainability #family #fishing #coastalsetting Not sure what age it‘s targeted at. 10-14 I guess.
#horror is not my favourite genre so not surprising I didn‘t love this. But it‘s twisty and everything is sorted by the end (except for the sting in the tail)… family drama with remote location, and lots of creepy birds. #marchrso2023 #preview #digitalarc
Starting again for the standing orders reading I do casually. This is my second #marchrso2023 book. Funny, heartwarming, inclusive and authentic. Great read for 11 - 14s. #preview #digitalarc #loveozmg 🇦🇺 #debutnovel (I think).
Knee replacement surgery done. Home now. Lots of exercises and hopefully lots of reading. This is a #decemberrelease lots of drama #reality #romance #revenge #currentlyreading
#rsomarch2023 #currentlyreading #illustratedbook #patrickness is always out to challenge us and to make us think about #lgbtqia+ issues. But he‘s also full of humanity and genuine care for young people. Love his work.
Lovely #loveOzYA romance set in Melbourne right at the beginning of 2020 #covid #lockdown this brought back memories but I wasn‘t saddened. It was more nostalgic, being reminded of things I had forgotten. Lovely MCs. Art is important, being creative stirs the soul, and money isn‘t everything. #preview #debutnovel #feb2023
Read this in one day. Contemporary Australian YA. Pretty typical but with a great MC voice. Struggling with self doubt, an absent mother and fragmented friendships, Edie deserves all the best things. Really engaged with her journey.
Quite enjoying this #historical #middlefiction read for adventurous and courageous readers. Our two narrators are sure they will never be friends. Yeah right, let‘s see how much longer this hostility lasts… #currentlyreading
Reading this futuristic (dystopian?) middle fiction book as a possible readers cup meeting. It has engaged me immediately. #currentlyreading #specfic #nosycrow #feistygirl
This Australian young adult author publishes internationally with #ylva which focuses on LGBT books. I discovered her by accident and was so happy to find a new book. It‘s a tough read, watching the way Luce‘s bad decisions impact both her and those around her. But we push through because the characters, the humour and the love story are engaging and well written. 5 stars from me.
Strong middle fiction Australian novel about a mother and her three children. Point of view is Gus the middle child who has built many protective walls to protect herself from hurt. A bit of a ghost story, a family story and a story about a drive in theatre, I am #currentlyreading #loveozmg #rainforestgarden
While the first week back at school was only four days, it was still exhausting. Can I spend my weekend reading? #currentlyreading I loved Wolf Hollow so to be back with Annabelle is a treat. Plant is a gift from grateful students. They‘re quite lovely to be aware of the work we do for them.
I had a year 7 student pull me up on my negative attitude towards this author. She was scathing that I had never read one. So she handed this to me. On the second last day of the school holidays I am finally making an effort. Sigh. Here we go. #notyoungadult
Four Australian 🇦🇺 middle fiction books 📚 for kids aged 11 - 14 I recently read. Loved them all for their own strengths. 🎉👏❤️📚Great year for #loveozmg books!
Lots of missed reads through the year - both Australian and international - both middle fiction and young adult, some series, some arcs, some borrows, and some from my library. Starting with the tagged book 📕 because everything Fiona Wood writes is amazing. #tbrpile #catchingup #loveozya #currentlyreading also spring is coming…
A new #middlefiction book by two of Australia‘s favourite and critically acclaimed authors? I am here for it. It‘s already a treat! #currentlyreading #preview #octoberrso2022 #climateschange #flashback #sustainability #postpandemic #resilience #family #friendship #loveozmg
The joys of doing toilet duty at the annual school athletics carnival - I finish books. This one is a beauty! Funny, authentic and swoons. All the good things. #octoberrso2022 #contemporary #sharehouse #anxiety #friendships #highlyrecommended
Four #septemberrso2022 books. Life has been busy. End of school, now holiday with family. Always time to read tho.
#currentlyreading #preview #digital #septrso2022 I am skipping ahead (because I am naughty). (Because I can). And also #squee Kemmerer is an auto buy author for me. Her books, both fantasy and contemporary, are all real and complex.
Well, that hurt. Lots to think about including the cyclic ending… all the feels and thoughts about what it means to be a man brought up into the open. #preview #julyrso2022 #printproof #ukya
#currentlyreading #preview #printedproofcopy #julyrso2022 Amazing concept, let‘s see how it‘s executed. Also, I am not reading these July arcs quick enough. Too many books, yada yada…
#currentlyreading #preview #julyrso2022 #digital A book set in Malaysia about a girl who will need to find her best friend‘s killer to help process her grief set in the world of competitive scrabble. So good.
#currentlyreading #preview #digital #julyrso2022 Back to school so reading takes a step back. This Australian book starts with a teenager finding out she‘s pregnant and been accepted into a secret magic school. Wow. I am enjoying the snarky voice of confused Lucy. Let‘s see where it goes…
#currentlyreading #preview #junerso2022, #digital, diversity, and sweet romance (so far). Probably my last June read.
#currentlyreading #preview #junerso2022 #digital #gaypirates One third of the way through and Tal our hero prince is trying to be the good guy. His love interest Athlen is oh so charming but frustratingly enigmatic.
#currentlyreading #preview #junerso2022 #digital Whipping through lots of books in my first week of holiday. Funny how the topics are similar… I just read a middle school one about OCD. I suspect this teen version will be a little darker, but also wishing it will be just as hopeful. Argh, here we go…
#currentlyreading #preview #junerso2022 #digital #middlefiction gah. Hard to read, but also appropriately written for its audience.
#currentlyreading #preview #digital #junerso2022 #middlefiction. Benny has OCD. I am exhausted watching him trying to appease the bully in his brain. Hopefully April will help.
#currentlyreading #preview #digital #junerso2022 I am already creeped out. But there‘s a strong literary theme, and a 17 year prize winning author. But also rich girls at boarding school being murdered. So eep.
