batsy Oh! I love it 😍 5y
Severnmeadows @batsy I looked inside, and found my mum had written ‘for Stephen, Christmas 1961‘. I loved this book when I was between 7 and 10 😊 5y

batsy A treasured copy ❤️ I'm sad I never read her when I was young, I've heard only good things! 5y
Severnmeadows @BarbaraBB Thankyou! It did strike me when I looked at it again that books outlast us. Published in 1950, and I expect I‘ll pass it on to the grandchildren.. 😊 5y
Severnmeadows @batsy yes, it seems luck what books one comes across as a child. (Lucky there were books in the house!) I read the Lion the witch and the wardrobe as a child, but read the others when grown-up; and had to discover the Arthur Ransome stories for myself later on - I think my mother thought them too posh 😊 5y
batsy I know! I loved the Ransome books; read some of them as a child and unfortunately the copies are lost so now I'll have to start over. I look forward to reading Sutcliff, too. The best children's books are fit for any age imho 🙂 5y
Aimeesue Well, that's just gorgeous. ❤️ 5y
