Be careful what you wish for... When J. Alex Cook, a production assistant on The Fourth Estate (one of network TV's hottest shows), is accidentally catapulted to stardom, he finds himself struggling to navigate both fame and a relationship with Paul, one of Fourth's key writers. Despite their incendiary chemistry, Alex's inexperience and the baggage they're both carrying quickly lead to an ugly break-up. Because the stars aren't benign Reeling from their broken hearts, Alex has an affair and Paul has an ill-advised reunion with an old flame. Meanwhile, the meddling of their colleagues, friends -and even the paparazzi!-quickly make Alex and Paul's real life romance troubles the soap opera of the television season. But while the entertainment value may be high, no one knows better than Alex and Paul that there are no guarantees when it comes to love in Los Angeles.

Hardcore signal boosting here, people. This is an excellent #queerbook that has meaningful gay, bi, ace, and poly characters. There's found family, unexpected fame, angst, romance, growing up. Sparse prose is my everything; I love digging to figure out what's been left unsaid, and there's a ton of that in Starling. Snag it this weekend and get reading; the second book, Doves, will be re released on May 9.

Valentine's Day re-read/liveblog happening over here. This entire exchange, which happens on like the fourth page? This entire book is full of things like this. Happy sigh. I love these authors.

My peeps who love queer romance: run, don't walk, to Amazon and pick up a copy of this amazing book. It's a re-release (with 5k in added content that wasn't in the first edition!) and it's SO good, a cerebral, whip-smart romance with language so sparse that it just punches you in the gut page after page. It features queer folk all over the spectrum and and and. Go read it. Free on kindle unlimited or $3.99 to buy.

saresmoore This sounds like it would be perfect for the @bookriot #ReadHarder2017 challenge for LGBTQ+ romance! 7y

I fail at life. I keep leaving things unfinished. So what am I doing? Oh, yes, rereading something that might make me feel less like a screw up. It will also probably make me cry. Because these authors are SO good at it (wait and I'll live blog Phoenix, that'll be a barrel of laughs).

Dealing with fame when being famous was never something you wanted. A truly diverse cast of characters, both racially and with regards to sexual orientation and relationship dynamic. Love love love this series.
