Two graduate students decide to solve their financial problems by becoming egg donors at an exclusive, highly profitable fertility clinic on Boston’s North Shore. But second thoughts and curiosity prompt the two women to find out more about their donated eggs. Obtaining employment at the clinic under aliases, they soon discover the horrifying aims of its research, immediately putting their lives—and their sanity—irrevocably at risk… Posited on up-to-the-minute science, Shock is a spine-tingling novel of medicine run amok by the bestselling master of medical suspense.

Well, I was supposed to be taking my son to a Lego Brick Fest today, but our car broke down on the way out of town. My other half rescued us, but by the time the tow truck came for the car, it was too late for our plans.

On the brighter side, we made a couple of stops on the way home, and at least I ended up with a pretty good #bookhaul for the day.

Pickpick

This book combines an excellent knowledge of the biological processes of infertility treatment and cloning with a gripping storyline. The characters are pretty well painted, plus the relationships between them are interesting. Not as good as Contagion, but still worth a read.

The ending is pretty "up in the air", but I suppose it leaves you to paint your own picture of how the storyline is resolved.
